Video Arts

Video Arts Room International Terminal

SFO Museum’s Video Arts program provides visibility to a range of contemporary artists and filmmakers who are at the leading edge of their craft. From short-form documentaries and narratives, to experimental films and all forms of animation, Video Arts brings you the thought-provoking, innovative work of today’s filmmakers.

This gallery is located pre-security on the departures level of International Terminal with daily operating hours of 5:00am to 10:00pm.

SFO Museum reviews exhibition proposals from artists and filmmakers on a rolling basis. Video Arts is currently programming four new films each month that are 20 minutes or less in duration. Due to our operation in a public space, Video Arts does not program work that features overt sexual or violent content. Those who are interested in participating may submit their work via our online form, here.

Video Arts Returns to Original Programming!
This month, we’re featuring four filmmakers from around the world whose work directly and indirectly reflects how the pandemic impacts our lives and our interaction with one another. A French filmmaker identifies inspiration found in the isolation of Paris’ lockdown in the winter of 2020. A Turkish-born animation director, collaborates with a London-based animator to illustrate the world of a young girl in self-isolation. A Los Angeles-based filmmaker from Hong Kong produces a story of familial support amidst hardship in Los Angeles Chinatown. And a Canadian filmmaker crafts an exploration of the critical importance of physical contact in our interpersonal communication. Together, these artists help us understand the world we are navigating, and inspire us with stories of beauty and resilience.
