That's All Folks!
The Enduring Art of Warner Bros. Animation on View at SFO

SAN FRANCISCO -- From Hare to Eternity! The Enduring Art of Warner Bros. Animation, a new exhibition at San Francisco International Airport, brings the unbridled shenanigans of cartoon greats like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Road Runner, Elmer Fudd and others to the International Terminal. This new exhibition explores the works of the Cartoon Department of Warner Bros. Studios, which produced some of the most enduring characters, sophisticated animation, and memorable cartoon shorts of the twentieth century. From the emergence of their first star Porky Pig in 1935 to some of the all-time animation classics like "What's Opera Doc" and "One Froggy Evening,” a stable of highly talented concept artists, writers, animators, and directors brought to life Warner Bros.’ Looney Tunes cast of characters.

From Hare to Eternity! The Enduring Art of Warner Bros. Animation explores the art behind the humor through vintage production drawings and cells, concept paintings, hand-painted backgrounds, model sheets, storyboards, lobby cards, ceramic figurines, and rare collectibles. The more than 100 objects on view in this exhibition offer a glimpse at the creative genius and inspired artistry of animation legends Chuck Jones, Maurice Noble, Friz Freleng, Tex Avery, Bob Clampett, and many other talented Warner Bros. artists during what is considered to be the Golden Age of cartoons.

All objects on view are from WarnerArt, the collection of Eric Calande.

From Hare to Eternity! is located pre-security in the International Terminal Main Hall through February 8, 2008. There is no charge to view the exhibition.

San Francisco Airport Museums

The San Francisco Airport Museums program was established by the Airport Commission in 1980 for the purposes of humanizing the Airport environment, providing visibility for the unique cultural life of San Francisco, and providing educational services for the traveling public. The Museum was granted initial accreditation from the American Association of Museums in 1999, reaccredited in 2005, and has the distinction of being the only accredited museum in an airport. Today, the San Francisco Airport Museums features approximately twenty galleries throughout the Airport terminals displaying a rotating schedule of art, history, science, and cultural exhibitions, as well as the San Francisco Airport Commission Aviation Library and Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum, a permanent collection dedicated to the history of commercial aviation.
