Aerial Aesthetics:
New Exhibition at SFO by Photographer Herb Lingl

SAN FRANCISCO --  More than twenty works by aerial photographer Herb Lingl will be presented at San Francisco International Airport. The exhibition, Aerial Aesthetics/Herb Lingl, will be on view in the San Francisco Airport Commission Aviation Library and Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum from April 14, 2008 to September 12, 2008.

Herb Lingl has specialized in aerial work for more than twenty years. Recognized as a leader in the field, he was named Epson Photographer of the Year in 2007. The color images selected for the exhibition present the broad range of Lingl’s technical mastery. Based in Petaluma, California, his subjects include architectural studies, familiar manmade landmarks, and the unexpected compositions and colors of Bay Area landscapes encountered from above. An image from the exhibition is available at http://www.flysfo.com/web/page/about/news/pressres/exh-lingl.html.

An opening reception for the exhibition will be held at the San Francisco Airport Commission Aviation  Library  and Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum on Thursday, April 17, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Airport parking garage tickets for reception attendees will be validated.

The San Francisco Airport Commission Aviation Library and Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum, part of San Francisco Airport Museums, is located pre-security on the Departures/Ticketing Level of the International Terminal, adjacent to the entrance to Boarding Area A. The library and museum is open free of charge from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday through Friday, and closed Saturdays and holidays.

San Francisco Airport Museums

The San Francisco Airport Museums program was established by the Airport Commission in 1980 for the purposes of humanizing the Airport environment, providing visibility for the unique cultural life of San Francisco, and providing educational services for the traveling public. The Museum was granted initial accreditation from the American Association of Museums in 1999, reaccredited in 2005, and has the distinction of being the only accredited museum in an airport. Today, the San Francisco Airport Museums features approximately twenty galleries throughout the Airport terminals displaying a rotating schedule of art, history, science, and cultural exhibitions, as well as the San Francisco Airport Commission Aviation Library and Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum, a permanent collection dedicated to the history of commercial aviation.
